Project Overview

We undertook a full pitched roof replacement at Springfield House in Barnsley. The project demanded early starts and daily travel, but the team's dedication and expertise ensured it was completed to a high standard. Remarkably, the entire project was completed in just 12 weeks, showcasing the team's efficiency and commitment.

Each phase - from structural work to finishing touches - was executed with precision and care, making this a standout project for the Safeseal team.

Project Goals

The primary goal of the project was to deliver a complete roof replacement that met the highest standards of quality, safety, and durability within a tight 12-week programme. We set out to remove the existing roof structure, carry out complex structural alterations, and install a new multi-system roofing solution capable of providing long-term weather protection and visual appeal. The objective was to complete the works efficiently and without disruption, demonstrating our ability to manage challenging structural and logistical requirements while maintaining exceptional workmanship throughout.

Key Challenges

The project presented several key challenges, beginning with the complete removal of the existing roof, which required careful planning and coordination to maintain site safety and stability. Structural alterations added further complexity, as the monitors had to be lowered and re-joisted with precision to ensure integrity and alignment. In addition, our team needed to fully felt and batten the roof to provide effective weatherproofing and protection against harsh winter conditions throughout the build.

Solutions Implemented

To meet the project’s technical demands, We implemented a series of tailored roofing solutions across multiple systems. The pitched roof installation featured 29,000 Cedral Rivendale fibre cement slates and 300 vents to ensure effective airflow, finished with Kytun dry verge and Cedral dry ridge systems for a clean, durable edge. For the box gutters, the team joisted externally to create the correct falls, lined the area with 18mm marine ply for added strength, and applied a two-layer Bauder waterproofing system. The Bauder flat roof was overlayed with 150m² of KSD Mica, incorporating tapered insulation and Sprint Duo, then completed with a K4E finish and GRP-trimmed parapet walls to deliver a fully watertight, long-lasting result.

Outcome

The project was completed on time and to an exceptional standard, showcasing our commitment to quality and efficiency. The new roofing system combines a sharp, professional finish with long-term durability and protection. Every stage, from the initial structural work to the final detailing, was carried out with precision and care, resulting in a seamless and high-performing installation. Completing such a large-scale project within just 12 weeks stands as a testament to the team’s dedication, coordination, and workmanship.

"Safeseal delivered exactly what they promised - a high-quality finish, completed on time and with complete professionalism from start to finish."
